Characteristic Enhancement Patterns of Renal Epithelioid Angiomyolipoma: a case report and literature review

چکیده
We present a case of renal epithelioid angiomyolipoma in a 42-year-old woman with diabetic nephropathy for two years. Ultrasonography revealed a right renal mass in the patient. Further imaging could not confirm the nature of the mass, which grew noticeably over the course of 4 months. The mass was treated with right radical nephrectomy and diagnosed as renal epithelioid angiomyolipoma. Characteristic enhancement patterns of renal epithelioid angiomyolipoma were observed and supported by a review of the literature. Histopathology with immunohistochemical staining revealed that the mass was predominantly composed of large epithelioid cells. Most cells stained intensely for HMB-45 (Fig. 4). According to these findings, the tumor was confirmed to be an EAML.

Multiple primary tumors in a single patient are relatively rare when four or more distinct lesions are considered. Herein, we report a case of woman with four different primary tumors: meningioma, renal angiomyolipoma, spinal ependymoma and high-grade soft tissue sarcoma. There was no family history and hereditary syndrome. The genetic analysis was completely normal. To best of our knowledge, t...

Malignant renal epithelioid angiomyolipoma (EAML) is rare, and currently there is no malignant criteria for its pathological diagnosis. In the present study, the case of a patient who suffered malignant renal EAML and underwent nephrectomy is reported. The histological patterns of the tumor were composed of sheets or nests of large polygonal epithelioid cells and thick-walled blood vessels, wit...
متن کاملProlonged Hemoptysis Caused by Primary Pulmonary Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma; A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma is a vascular tumor with an intermediate malignant potential. This tumor is very rare in the lung parenchyma, and most of the previously reported cases have been asymptomatic. There is no standard therapy for this tumor and prognosis in the previous reports has been variable.Herein we report our experience with a 60-year-old woman presenting with hemoptysis and ...

Two variants of renal angiomyolipoma (AML)-classic and epithelioid-have been described. Although the epithelioid variant has been reported to demonstrate an aggressive clinical behavior, classic AML is usually benign. Herein, we report a case of a 42-year-old asymptomatic woman with a lipomatous variant of renal AML associated with an inferior vena cava thrombus managed with radical nephrectomy...
متن کاملPigmented Perivascular Epithelioid Cell Tumor (PEComa) of the Kidney: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Heavily pigmented perivascular epithelioid cell tumors (PEComa) are rare, only eight cases of which have been reported. Unlike typical epithelioid angiomyolipoma, most of these tumors have been encountered in female patients without tuberous sclerosis. The long-term prognosis thereof is undetermined. Cytological similarity and heavy melanin pigment make it difficult for pigmented PEComa to be d...
